What Artists Are Saying
Reading the Work continues to develop through artist participation, observation and response.
This page brings together selected responses from artists who have received Pattern Discovery Readings and the different forms of recognition they have described afterward.
These responses reflect individual experiences within an ongoing artist-led inquiry. They are not presented as outcomes every artist should expect.
Artists can recognise different things in different ways.
Sometimes a Reading brings something previously unnoticed into view.
Sometimes it makes clearer something the artist already sensed.
For others, the significance lies in finding language for an existing understanding, receiving confirmation, noticing their work differently afterward, or recognising that a characteristic has been present for longer than they realised.
These are different forms of recognition, not stages every artist is expected to experience.

What the research does not yet claim
Reading the Work is an ongoing inquiry.
The current research does not assume that every artist will experience the same form of recognition or that every body of work will contain meaningful recurring patterns.
Participant responses help investigate both what artists recognise through the process and where the framework's limits may lie.
As the research continues, new Readings, responses, questions and differences contribute to its refinement.
